There is good news - the rate of crime in the United States is down, and it’s been decreasing for twenty years. The graphic below with data from the FBI, clearly shows a nation that is becoming safer than it once was.
There is also some bad news; and that is that “safer” shouldn’t be translated into “safe.” Consider this graphic from the FBI’s own web site.
Yes, both of these illustrations are correct and true. The US is getting safer, but there is still plenty of good reasons to be vigilant, careful, and capable of defending yourself.
A martial arts class is a great addition to your personal or family safety plan. You can’t carry a weapon everywhere (airports, stadiums, churches), and the police cannot be everywhere, and even a night out at the shopping mall or movie theater can turn insane.
