Pal Che So

  1. Slide the left leg next to the right foot. Inhale. Spread the hands outward until both hands are directly beside the body and the palms are facing forward. Keeping the elbows where they rotate the open palms up to a ‘praying’ position in front of your face . Do not exaggerate the opening or closing of the arms or hands.
  2. Leaving the hands together, move them downward until they point to the floor and the arms are straight. Exhale. As the hands move downward straighten the legs.
  3. Lift up on the toes. Taking three full seconds, turn to the left 900. Do not turn your back on your ‘opponent’. Both open palmed hands should be resting on your left hip. At 4.5 seconds spring forward 4 feet landing on the right foot, with the left foot landing a moment later crossing behind. The right foot should be pointing directly forward. The hands move from the left hip with the right hand ending in a knife hand block and the left hand laying on the right wrist.
  4. Turn 1800 to the left bringing the hands to the left hip. At this point the feet have only rotated, but not moved. Slide into a low left foot leading front stance. The right hand does an open hand high block and the left hand does a neck high Soo Do. Fighting Stance.
  5. The left open hand crosses downward to the right hip. The right hand closes into a fist and crosses over to the left shoulder. Turn 2700 to the right spinning on the left foot. Looking over the right shoulder pull the left fist back to the left rib cage and strike the right fist down to a low side block. End with both feet together. Legs straight, feet together, looking right.
  6. Look straight ahead (Left 900 from where you were looking). Bring both open palms to the left hip. Slide the left foot forward into a fighting stance. Snap the right open hand into a high block. Snap then left open hand into a neck high Soo Do. Fighting Stance.
  7. Slide the left foot back so that it is right next to the right foot. Bring the left fist back to the left rib cage. Bring the right fist, palm toward the body, to the left shoulder.
  8. Turn quickly 900 to the left lifting the right leg up. Low side kick with the right leg. Ki-yup. Low side block with the right fist. Pull the right leg back and then set it down ending in a low Horse-riding stance. Pull the left open hand to the right shoulder with the palm facing the shoulder. The right and left hands are slowly crossed, exhaling, until the left open hand is over the left knee and the right fist is at the right rib cage.
  9. Two quick punches, first with the right fist then the left. Stay in the low horse-riding stance.
  10. Look left and perform a left arm low block in a fighting stance. Immediately look right and perform a right arm low block in a fighting stance. Fighting stance.
  11. Bring both open hands down to the left hip sliding the left foot forward. Stop the left foot and slide the right foot forward ending in a fighting stance. Snap to a middle knife hand block. Fighting stance.
  12. Bring both hand down to the right hip. Slide the left foot forward into a fighting stance. Snap to a middle knife hand block.
  13. Bring both open hands down to the left hip sliding the right foot forward into a fighting stance. Snap to a middle knife hand block. Immediately bring both hand down to the right hip. Slide the right foot backward into a fighting stance. Snap to a middle knife hand block.
  14. Step with the left foot into a low front stance performing an Inside/Outside block with the right arm. The stance is facing 450 left, while the block is almost 450 to the right.
  15. Raise the left hand up to meet the right and push both hands up and to the right. Thumb to thumb, pointer finger to pointer finger.
  16. Close both fists. Pull both hands down to the left hip, turning at the same time. With the right left perform a side-kick straight ahead. Ki-yup. Be sure to look at the ‘opponent’. Turn and look 1800 behind. Stomp your kicking left down into a fighting stance. Both hands perform Inside/Outside blocks as if to break a chokehold. The elbows of both arms will be inward, but still 9 inches apart. The fists will be 15 inches apart. (exact measurement is not necessary, just get the idea).
  17. Both fists are pulled down to the waist, palm down. Skip forward about two feet and execute a double outside-inside strike to the opponent’s ribs. Throughout this technique you maintain a fighting stance.
  18. Slide the right (back) foot forward into a horse-riding stance (turning 900 left) and execute a right hand side punch. The left fist is pulled back to the left rib cage.
  19. Immediately look 1800 back (original forward position) and cross the hands, left over right , and execute a left hand side hammer fist. The right fist is pulled back to the right rib cage.
  20. Slide the right (back) foot forward (as defined be the original position) into a front stance and execute a right middle punch. The left fist is pulled back to the left rib cage.
  21. Look left 900. Turn left 900 sliding the left (back) foot toward the right until they are shoulder-width apart. Both hands make outside-inside motions and come together (as if to clap) directly in front of the face. The right hand should be one inch higher than the left. The forearms should be parallel with the floor.
  22. Look left 900. Reach out with the left hand, parallel with the floor, until the arm is straight. Make sure the hand is open and the thumb is facing the floor. The right hand closes into a fist and the arm remains parallel with the floor.
  23. Close the left hand into a fist as if to grab an opponent. Slide the right (back) foot forward and around turning 1800. While turning the left hand does not move. As you approach the ending position, the right fist executes a punch.
  24. Reach out with the right hand until it is completely straight and the open hand is palm up.
  25. Turn the palm oven until the thumb is pointing downward. Close the hand into a fist as if to grab your opponent.
  26. Slide the left (back) foot forward and around turning 1800. While turning the right hand does not move. As you approach the ending position, the left fist executes a punch.
  27. Reach out with the left hand until it is completely straight and the open hand is palm up.
  28. Turn the palm oven until the thumb is pointing downward. Close the hand into a fist as if to grab your opponent.
  29. Slide the right (back) foot forward and around turning 1800. While turning the left hand does not move. As you approach the ending position, the right fist executes a punch.
  30. Both open hands move down to the right hip. Slide the left foot 2250 around sliding into a fighting stance and execute a middle knife attack.
  31. Look back 1800. This will be 450 to the right of the original forward-facing position. Move both open hands to the left hip. Slide the left (back) foot in the direction you are looking and then slide with the right foot into anther fighting stance. Execute another middle knife attack. Ki-yup.
  32. Inhale as you slide backward with the right foot until it is right next to the left foot leaving both knees slightly bent. As the feet move, rotate both hands in an outside-inside motion until the open palms of both hands touch. Do not let the hands rotate any further apart than the width of your shoulders.
  33. Leaving the hands together, continue moving them until they point downward and the arms are straight. Exhale.
