Bong Hyung Sam Dan

  1. Turn to the left 900 and with a sweeping motion dip the left end of the staff and then raise it above your head while stepping into a left leg leading horse-riding, soco rip jase stance and execute a low block.
  2. Move the front end of the staff to the right to sweep/block and opponent and continue moving the staff right and upward until the staff is against the chest and parallel with the ground. In the process pivot with the right leg into a front stance. Execute a high block.
  3. With the right end of the staff execute a downward strike to the opponent’s shoulder. The left hand will be against your own rib cage with the palm downward and the right arm/wrist will be pressing downward, the right elbow should be higher than the staff which will be angled with the back end low and the front end shoulder height.
  4. Execute a high kick with the right leg, hold, step down into a right leg leading front stance and execute a double high strike with the staff, left then right.
  5. In a very fluid motion, flip the front end of the staff until it is under the left armpit. With a sweeping motion, turn to the right 1800 stepping into a right leg leading horse-riding, soco rip jase stance execute a low block.
  6. Move the front end of the staff to the left to sweep/block and opponent and continue moving the staff left and upward until the staff is against the chest and parallel with the ground. In the process pivot with the left leg into a front stance. Execute a high block.
  7. With the left end of the staff execute a downward strike to the opponent’s shoulder. The right hand will be against your own rib cage with the palm downward and the left arm/wrist will be pressing downward, The left elbow should be higher than the staff which will be angled with the back end low and the front end shoulder height.
  8. Execute a high kick with the left leg, hold, step down into a left leg leading front stance and execute a double high strike with the staff, right then left.
  9. In a very fluid motion, flip the front end of the staff until it is under the right armpit. With a sweeping motion, turn 900 to the left stepping into a front stance and execute a left-side low block.
  10. Step forward into a right leg leading front stance and execute a right-side low block followed by a right-side high attack.
  11. Turn left 3600 stepping into a left leg leading front stance and execute a left-side high strike.
  12. The front/high end of the staff is moved lower and to the right until it is almost vertical beside the right side of the body with the left fist high, the left forearm horizontal and the right fist low. In a snapping motion the staff is reversed and becomes perfectly vertical with the right fist high and the left fist low.
  13. The staff is slowly moved to the left side as if pushing against another staff. Maintain the vertical alignment of the staff during the move and end with the staff forward of the left knee and a little to the left. If the staff were allowed to drag on the floor, the markings would form an almost straight line from the right side of the body to the left, not an arc .
  14. Strike the ground (opponent’s foot) with the staff. Execute a turning sidekick with the right foot. Ki-yup.
  15. Bring the staff up to the chest parallel with the floor. Step forward with the right foot into a front stance and execute a right side low block.
  16. Turn 2700 to the left and stepping into a left leg leading soco rip jase stance execute a low block.
  17. Move the front end of the staff to the right to sweep/block and opponent and continue moving the staff right and upward until the staff is against the chest and parallel with the ground. In the process pivot with the right leg into a front stance. Execute a high block.
  18. With the right end of the staff execute a downward strike to the opponent’s shoulder. The left hand will be against your own rib cage with the palm downward and the right arm/wrist will be pressing downward, The right elbow should be higher than the staff which will be angled with the back end low and the front end shoulder height.
