I was recently reminded of the value of a good stretch before a workout. I was taking class from a visiting instructor, who thought he could eek out just a little more from my otherwise fully extended arm, spine, and spleen. Now, if said visiting instructor had gently pushed me toward additional extension, all would have been hunky dory.
Alas, I am three weeks into a rehab that will likely last another six. The lesson here is that when it comes to stretching, slow and gentle are the watchwords of the day.
